ABOUT UGURU ISLAND
The far edge of Kochi.
A place where time stands still.
23 kilometres off the coast of Sukumo, reached by ferry in 50 minutes. The island measures just 6.7 km around, with a population of about 18 people. There are no roads, no cars, no shops, and no traffic lights.
It might sound inconvenient. But almost everyone who visits says they want to come back. You can see coral reefs from the harbour wall, and sea turtles swim alongside you in the water β that kind of sea still exists in Japan.
ONLY HERE
Visibility over 20m. The moment you put your face in the water, you think: "This is another world." Head straight to the best spots by boat β just 5 minutes away. 90%+ sea turtle encounter rate. All gear free to borrow.

An autumn festival open to visitors from outside the island. Traditional Ushioni and mikoshi processions. A day to celebrate alongside the islanders β a truly special experience.
Zero light pollution β so many stars it's almost overwhelming. A sunset sinking into the horizon that leaves you speechless. This is something only guests on the overnight plan ever know.
